DETROIT (July 9, 2025) – Salita Promotions has announced the signing of former WBC Super Welterweight Champion and proud Detroit native Tony Harrison (29-4-1, 21 KOs) to their surging roster.

Embodying the Detroit fighting spirit, Harrison boasts a decorated career spanning over fourteen years. On a mission to reclaim a world title, he will return to the ring for the first time since his WBO Interim Super Welterweight showdown against Tim Tszyu in 2023. A force in the division, Harrison defeated Jermell Charlo in 2018 to become WBC Champion, handing Charlo his first career defeat.

This time, Harrison is gearing up to perform for his hometown fans in the Motor City as the co-main event of the highly anticipated Claressa Shields vs. Lani Daniels Heavyweight World Championship on Saturday, July 26 at Little Caesars Arena. Opposite Harrison will be the Dominican Republic’s Edward Diaz (15-6, 12 KOs), a heavy-handed competitor coming off a knockout win over Juan Martinez.

Boxing runs deep in Harrison’s family. His grandfather, Henry Hank, fought from 1955 to 1972, compiling a record of 62-31-4 (40 KOs). His father and former trainer, the late Ali Salaam, was a professional welterweight who fought from 1984 to 1989 and retired with a record of 11-6 (5 KOs).

“We are excited to get back in there and get to work,” said Harrison. “It’s been a minute, but we are going to roll out like George Foreman did for his comeback. I have a short window left, so we are going to be active, keep winning, and eventually get back to the mountaintop. Regaining a world title is my No. 1 goal, and I am feeling very strong at 160. It all starts once again on July 26 in my hometown. Let’s eat.”

“Tony Harrison is the last world champion from Detroit — a fighter who has proudly carried the city’s rich boxing legacy all the way to a world title,” said Salita Promotions President Dmitriy Salita. “Now rejuvenated at middleweight, he’s on a mission to add another belt to his remarkable career. Fans watching live on DAZN and at Little Caesars Arena will witness an action-packed undercard featuring some of the best talent in the world.”

Additional Undercard Bouts

Rising Heavyweight Star Pryce Taylor (8-0, 6 KOs) returns for his fourth fight of 2025. Coming off four straight knockouts, Brooklyn’s Taylor looks to continue his ascent against Robert Simms (12-4-1, 3 KOs) of Saginaw, Michigan.

Samantha Worthington (11-0, 7 KOs), co-promoted by Shields’ T-Rex Promotions and Salita Promotions, will face France’s Victoire Piteau (14-2, 2 KOs) for the WBA Jr. Welterweight Women’s Interim Title. Worthington, an Alabama native, has earned this opportunity with three dominant victories over the past year. The winner will be in line to face the victor of Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano III.

Caroline Veyre (9-1), the WBC International Women’s Featherweight Champion fighting out of Montreal, will open the main card against France’s Licia Boudersa (23-3-2, 4 KOs) in a WBC World Title Eliminator. Boudersa, 32, is making her promotional debut after a close IBF Lightweight title bout last year against Beatriz Ferreira.

Main Event

The GWOAT, Claressa Shields, returns home to Detroit on Saturday, July 26, to defend her Undisputed Heavyweight World Championship against New Zealand’s Lani Daniels (11-2-2, 1 KO), the reigning IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion.

Shields, the most decorated female boxer in history, became the first boxer — male or female — to achieve undisputed status in three weight divisions. Daniels, recently signed to Salita Promotions, also made history by becoming the first New Zealander to win world titles in two divisions.

Shields vs. Daniels will air live on DAZN.
