Kayla Harrison Is Here For A Good Time Not A Long Time

Kayla Harrison made history this past Saturday at UFC 316 by defeating Julianna Pena for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship. Harrison, a former PFL champion and the face of the company and the first women’s gold medalist for the USA in judo has truly already accomplished all there is to do in Combat Sports .

Defeating former champion Holly Holm, and #2 contender Ketlen Vieira with her win Saturday it seems as though Kayla may have conquered the Bantamweight Division .

Enter Amanda Nunes …. UFC Hall of Famer and the widely considered female GOAT in MMA Amanda Nunes made her return to the company and faced off with Kayla. In my estimation the BIGGEST fight that can be made in the Women’s ranks of MMA . With that said if Kayla can turn away Amanda she may have conquered the UFC in 4 fights .

What’s gonna be interesting is the weight it takes place at whether that’s 135 or 145. Both Harrison and Nunes have fought at higher weight classes as Harrison champion at lightweight and Amanda at Featherweight make it intriguing . Kayla has spoke about the hard time she has making 135 so it would definitely be in her best interest . The problem this presents is with the 145 division not around anymore in WMMA where does either go next ?

I think in the case of Amanda much like Georges St. Pierre when he defeated Michael Bisping at Middleweight and re retired. Kayla may take another opponent but if she beats the GOAT what’s left to accomplish other than rack up title defenses ? Either way this is THE Mega fight for Women’s MMA in my estimation.
