Record Night at Slammiversary: Could This Be What Establishes TNA as a Major Player?

TNA Slammiversay emanated last night from the UBS Arena in Long Island New York. A company who’s been on the rise for quite some time, has now possibly taken that next step. Since partnering with WWE the unpredictability of who could show up where and who could face who has kept fans on the edge of their seats. Last night proved that as it is the biggest attendance in TNA history with 7,623 what could this show mean for the future of TNA?

Mustafa Ali defeats Cedric Alexander

Cedric Alexander made his shocking return to TNA to confront his old Rival Mustafa Ali on what looked like behalf of Order 4. In speaking with us on Knockouts and 3 Counts prior to his arrival in TNA he said facing his rival was on top of his post WWE hit list.

The match lived up to the hype and was a MOTY candidate even with the interference of Order 4 members Tasha Steelz, and the Good Hands. The finish with the Lunbar check to 450 Splash was insane ! NEED TO SEE THIS AGAIN!

They System and Matt Cardona DEF Darkstate

Matt Cardona called on an old friend and tag partner for help when he was attacked on TNA Impact, teaming up with former partner Brian Meyers and The System. The young and brash group Darkstate proved to be a game and unorthodox opponent. While they won it has me wondering if the emergence of Cardona could lead to the implosion of the system or maybe a face turn?

Indi Hartwell DEF Tessa Blanchard

Great performance for Indi Hartwell, and Tessa Blanchard shows that she’s one of the best in the world but with the sins of her past haunt her forever as she was largely booed. Indi proved she belongs in there with Tessa as this was their second encounter and the beatdown post match of Gia Miller kept Tessa heated up. Will we see Gia in the ring?

Jacy Jayne DEF Masha Slamavich

What a moment for Jacy Jayne being someone who was thought to have possibly been a transitional champion to being TNA AND NXT champion. This would set an interesting precedent as now a WWE wrestler had control of BOTH TNA World Championships. Masha I think could end up in WWE at some point as well fun match.

Leon Slater DEF Moose

This match had a lot riding on it for both competitors as If Moose won, he’s the longest reigning X division Champion passing Austin Aries. Leon Slater would become the youngest X Division champion in TNA History. With that title always being billed as being about “No Limits “ it certainly lived up to it. Moose is one of the best but most underrated wrestlers today between his uncanny athleticism and overall presence in the ring. Leon Slater truly is this generations Jeff Hardy with his creativity being showcased with dive over post, and hurricanrana to the floor this kid is EXCITING !The endorsement of AJ Styles and saying he is “what makes guys like him love wrestling “ may have been the cherry on top for Slater growing up a TNA kid he is truly the future of the x division.

The Hardys DEF First Class The Rascalz and The Nemeths

This match lived up to the moniker Card Subject to Change with Trey Miguel being sidelined due to a Hernia Surgery. Stepping in his place would be past guest of the show Myron Reed. Reed showed out with his Flame on Cutter to the floor showing people why he’s called the “Young Goat”.

First Class Past guest of the show AJ Francis had some major highlights as well with the big moonsault by AJ proving how athletic of a big man he is and the NASTY bump through the ladders. Definitely a team on the rise in my opinion.

The Hardys once again prove why they’re timeless. Constantly innovative and in this match doing so with the use of a helicopter ladder to win the titles.

Bubba Dudley returned to TNA to challenge The Hardy’s to one last match at Bound for Glory

Trick Williams DEF Mike Santana and Joe Hendry

Mikey Santana has been on fire headed in to this event with his appliances on NXT programming and the run he’s been on in TNA. Originally being a tag team guy with Ortiz, and part of LAX being an OG fan of TNA this is dope to see. With him and Joe Hendry flying the flag for TNA I was sure one of them would come out victorious at Slammiversary. Trick managed to keep the title meaning that now both TNA World Championships are with WWE superstars in Trick Williams and Jacy Jane. While many may say that this could look similar to TNA’s partnership with AEW, I’ve enjoyed it so far and feel they’re gearing up for big moment at Bound for Glory in October for TNA. Only time will tell.
